With so many up nights on this Summer tour, you’d think coming off the scorchers that were Hartford and Madison Square Garden that the band would be at least a bit road worn by now, but when you’ve got an outdoor amphitheater full of Boston area fans, that’s just not going to be the case. While shy of any tour breakouts and relying mainly on proven favorites from their impressively deep catalog, the energy level and give and take between the band and the crowd was once again of the highest order. Main set notables that you’ll be drawn to on this bootleg include “Hail, Hail,” “Faithfull,” “Off He Goes,” and all-out blistering versions of “Corduroy” and “I Got Id.” A triple-threat set closer of “Do The Evolution,” “Once” and “Rearviewmirror” brings the insanity level of this first night in Mansfield to a complete boil over.

Showing they’ve got plenty of love for Pearl Jam, the fans in Mansfield really let their appreciation show during the first part of “Betterman” with an eruption of cheers that seemed to put the song on hold for a good minute or so, clearly adding to the intensity and emotion of the song. An enthralling version of “Black” and a mosh-pit worthy “State Of Love And Trust” are also found in the encore sets. Regardless of the abrupt ending to the show due to the venue’s strict curfew regulations, night one in Mansfield is another quality night of hard charging Pearl Jam music.
