With one night under their belt and Pearl Jam fever taking over just about all of New York City, once again, the crowd energy greeting the band as they took the stage was staggering—and with the opening notes of “Release,” it was clear that the band was just as primed as the fans were for another night of intensity and passion. A swift kick into the tour debut of “World Wide Suicide” followed by “Severed Hand” and “Corduroy” made for one of the most pleasurable musical poundings I’ve ever seen delivered. At this point you couldn’t escape the ‘anything is possible’ feeling, and for the most point, that was manifested with the tour breakout of “Cropduster,” followed by a monumental version of “Garden,” complete with its original beginning, and a version of “State Of Love And Trust” that turned MSG into a swirling mass of musical mayhem. A truly funky and certainly at home version of “Rats” was a pure delight, and the sing along to the chorus was overpowering and served as a great lead in to the closing barrage of “Given To Fly,” “Do The Evolution” and “Go,” which makes its first Summer tour appearance here.Guest appearances were on the menu this evening as well, with the R&B singers from the previous evening back for the same round of songs again, C.J. Ramone reprising his role on “I Believe In Miracles,” and Ace Frehley of Kiss preceding to shred guitar leads on “Black Diamond,” which had both Mike McCready and Matt Cameron sharing vocals. Needless to say, the band was having beyond a blast on this one, and the looks of joy on both McCready and Cameron’s faces were priceless moments that surely will translate to the audio on this bootleg.
